How to create whiteboard animation on PowerPoint

Hello everyone welcome to my channel best of PowerPoint. In my previous video I had acquainted you with the basics of creating a whiteboard animation effect in PowerPoint and had taught you how to download various elements which we will need to create such a video.

So in this article I will be showing you the7 common whiteboard animation effects and with these 7 effects you can create a full-fledged whiteboard animation effect on any desired topic. So let us quickly jump into the tutorial.

The first animation effect is handwriting animation effect. To create such an effect, open your PowerPoint slide and enter your desired text on which you want to apply the effect. Make it large and bold.

You can use either the marker image or the pencil image for this effect. I will use the marker image. Insert the image in the slide and duplicate the image. Turn the image upside down and place the two images in such a way that the tips of the markers touch with each other. Group the two images together. Then open the selection pane and hide the duplicate image.

I will tell you the reason for all this in the later part of the video. Place the image outside the slide. And now its time for the animation process. Add wipe entrance effect to the text. Open the effect options and change the direction from bottom to from left. Also set the duration time to 5 seconds. Now we need to add a custom motion path effect to the image.

Select the image and click on custom path. Start drawing the path from the tip of the marker and draw it along the text. End the path outside the slide as shown. Perfect. We just need to adjust the timings. Set the duration time of this effect to 5seconds. Place this effect above the text animation effect in the animations pane and add a delay of 0.3 seconds to the text animation effect.

And this is how it looks. You can see the tip of the marker is moving perfectly along the custom motion path drawn. This is because we had duplicated and grouped the image in the beginning. However, if we had not done the same, the same effect would have looked like this.

The tip of the marker is not aligned we would have to manually adjust the tip of the marker to move it along the text. However this step will simplify that task for you. So this is how we create the handwriting animation effect for a whiteboard video.

The next animation effect is the image drawing animation effect. For this you need to download an image in SVG format as explained in my previous video. So lets jump in to flaticon.com to search the desired image and download it. Insert the image in the slide. Ungroup the image and add wipe entrance effect to all the parts of the image.

Open the effect options for all the parts of the image, change the direction from bottom to from top. Under the timings tab select start after previous and set the duration of animation to 0.1 seconds. This is how it looks. Awesome.

Let me show you one more example. Again this is a very common whiteboard animation effect and is used in almost every video. The third effect is the hand transition effect. Like here as I move on to my next slide, hand appears which pushes the slide such that the next slide may appear.

To create this kind of effect, first of all we need to take a screenshot of our original slide. Since there are a lot of elements present in the slide, it will be easier for us to animate a single screenshot picture that to animate all these elements.

So to take a screenshot press windows + print screen button on your keyboard, go to pictures, screenshots, and here you will find the image. Insert the image in a new slide. Then insert a hand image from your elements bundle.

Add left motion path effect to both the slide image and the hand image. Increase the length of the motion path such that the image and the hand move out of the slide. Open the effect options of both the effects. Reduce the smooth start and smooth end buttons to zero seconds and set the duration time to 2 seconds. Also select start with previous.

Below these images you can add the elements of your second image like I have added a gray image background and this acts as a good whiteboard transition effect to shift from one slide to the other. The fourth animation effect is to erase the pictures realistically.

This is how it looks. We can even create the opposite of this effect which looks like this. The technique is the same. To create this effect, insert your image in the slide. Also insert the hand image. Insert a rectangle shape in the slide, make it of as the same color as the background and start placing the copies of this shape diagonally over the image to cover it completely as shown. Add wipe entrance effect to all the shapes. Alternatively select the effects in the animations pane and change their direction from left and from right as shown.

I will select the shapes and add a shape outline to them just for the time being so that it becomes easy to work with them. Add a custom motion path effect to the hand image and draw the path as shown. Place the motion path effect above the other effects.

Now we need to add a delay to all the wipe effects of the rectangle shapes such that the animation should match with the motion path of the hand image. Similarly, you can change the wipe entrance effect to wipe exit effect to make it look like erasing the stuff. This is how it looks. You can also erase the whole image in a single shot. Just add a motion path to the eraser and wipe exit effect to the image and adjust the timings as shown.

The Next animation effect is drawing a table or flowchart diagram. Again this is a very common and widely used effect in whiteboard animation videos. And the steps to create this effect are very much similar to what we had done to animate the SVG images.

Go to the insert tab and insert your desired smart art flow chart. Right click and select ungroup. You may have to do it for two times. So all the parts have been separated from each other and now simply add wipe entrance effect to them add also adjust their duration time to about 0.2 seconds. Let me place these effects above the other ones.

By this time this effect should seem very simple to you. The next effect is really a very awesome way to present your whiteboard animation video and the effect is the slide zoom effect. For example, here the person is holding a laptop in his hand and the slide zooms into the laptop screen to move on to the next slide. The effect looks quite fascinating  and it is really very easy to create. Simply go to the insert tab, hit the zoom button and select slide zoom.

A new window appears and here you can select the slide which you want to insert and which you want to zoom into it. Adjust the position of the slide. And as I play the slideshow the effect works as discussed. The last animation effect is the simplest yet most powerful and useful effect.

It is the basic text animation where I add appear entrance effect to the text. Open the effect options and change animate text from all at one by one letter and add a delay of about 0.1 seconds. As simple as that.
